Mining data was made available by the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR).

The sulphur produced by a refinery is not included, as it does not originate from minerals mined in South Africa, but from imported oil.

This data was provided as part of a special request for data on mining operations within the Cape Town municipality. To protect the privacy of individual mines, Industrial minerals includes two commodities: silica and gypsum.
