Smart Cities, Urban Infrastructure Transitions, and Sustainability - Part II

This path-to-action document is generated from the second part of the discussion session,
entitled “Smart Cities, Urban Infrastructure Transitions, and Sustainability”. In this part, the
focus was on urban infrastructure transitions to sustainability. 13 discussants were
randomly separated into three groups to discuss three questions: a) How do we define
transitions in the context of urban infrastructure systems and how our research is related to
these transitions? b) What are enablers and barriers for urban infrastructure transitions that
we have known in our research fields? c) What is needed in future research, practices, and
science to action strategies to enable urban infrastructure transitions? Based on the
discussion results, we generated an outline that we can work together for a white paper,
which is detailed below.
